Measurement: Length and Mass
Measuring how long and how heavy things are, and converting units.
We measure length with rulers (centimetres, metres) and mass with scales (grams, kilograms).
Choose the right unit for the size. Small things in centimetres or grams; bigger things in metres or kilograms. 1 metre = 100 cm; 1 kg = 1000 g.
Measurement assigns a number plus unit to a physical quantity. Unit conversion uses scale factors (1 m = 100 cm, 1 kg = 1000 g) and is an application of multiplication/division by powers of 10.
