Counting to 10

Count objects and say the number names up to ten.

We count by saying the number names in order: one, two, threeโ€ฆ up to ten. Point to each object as you say a number.

Counting is putting objects in a one-to-one match with number names. The last number you say tells you how many there are (cardinality).

Counting establishes the natural-number sequence. Cardinality means the final count word represents the total quantity, independent of the objects counted.
