What's Happening?
π§ Solid
Particles are packed tightly in a regular pattern. They vibrate in place but cannot move past each other. This gives solids a FIXED SHAPE.
π§ Liquid
Particles are close together but can SLIDE past each other. Liquids flow and take the SHAPE OF THEIR CONTAINER but have a fixed volume.
π¨ Gas
Particles are FAR APART and zoom around in all directions. Gases spread out to FILL ANY SPACE and can be compressed.

π€― Did You Know?
- β’ Water is unusual β ice (solid) is LESS dense than liquid water, so it floats!
- β’ At absolute zero (-273Β°C), particles almost stop moving completely.
- β’ There's actually a 4th state called PLASMA β it's what stars are made of!
